Exploring the Power of DFaaS on DapDap: Empowering the Scroll Ecosystem

April 19, 2024 - At the heart of our recently launched Odyssey Vol. 3: Scroll Expedition, a remarkable aspect of DapDap deserves the spotlight — namely, DFaaS (or Decentralised Front-end-as-a-Service), which was first showcased in our blog Introducing DFaaS on DapDap: Powering Uniswap V3 on Linea.

Building on our successful front-end (FE) integration of Uniswap V3 on Linea, we are excited to highlight how DapDap’s DFaaS is enhancing user interactions across multiple dApps in the Scroll Ecosystem.

Harnessing DFaaS on DapDap for Enhanced UX

Powered by NEAR JS, DapDap has successfully aggregated a wide list of DeFi dApps into a single, compelling gateway that has been built so users can engage with multiple dApps through a single sign-in system, bridging the gap between complex blockchain operations and a streamlined user experience (UX).

By hosting multiple front-ends in a single gateway, DapDap intends to create a truly unified UX across various Ethereum rollup solutions, while maintaining the core integrity and decentralised nature of each dApp hosted. This last bit is only possible because each dApp on DapDap remains fully verifiable.

You see, with NEAR JS users can always inspect the source code of the dApp they’re interacting with to verify that DapDap is pulling its code directly from the original source. For instance, users can always inspect the code to DapDap’s Uniswap v3 FE via near.org.

Understanding the Difference — Smart Contract vs. Front-end (FE) Aggregation

  • Smart Contract Aggregation

Often seen in traditional dApp aggregators, Smart Contract Aggregation Involves pooling various functionalities into a single contract to optimise transactions and interactions, potentially reducing gas fees but often increasing complexity, and most importantly — coming at the cost of adding significant risk of smart contract vulnerability.

  • Front-end Aggregation

As embodied by DapDap, FE aggregation focuses on user interaction layers, aggregating access to multiple dApps through a single interface. This method enhances user experience by simplifying navigation and interaction across diverse platforms without meddling with the underlying blockchain operations.

DapDap: Empowering the Scroll Ecosystem with DFaaS

To experience DFaaS in action, check out DapDap’s Odyssey Vol. 3: Scroll Expedition. As part of the ongoing campaign, we’ve integrated a diverse range of top Scroll dApps into our gateway, offering unique decentralised FEs for each of them.

Here is a selection of DapDap’s alternate FEs we’ve built for Scroll so far:

What does FE Aggregation do besides Increase security? Why DapDap Excels at DFaaS

Recently, Uniswap Labs announced an increase in all fees to 0.25% on swaps executed through the main Uniswap v3 interface (with an exception for stablecoin pairs and WETH transactions). This move, intended to help support the growth and sustainability of the Uniswap ecosystem, has also resulted in a significant increase in cost for each individual user transaction.

In contrast, the focus of DapDap remains on providing a fully seamless, user-friendly experience without compromising on accessibility or functionality. Because of this, DapDap purposefully does not impose any fees on its Uniswap v3 FE. Instead, Uniswap v3 is directly accessible on our platform without additional costs at:

As Uniswap v3 users look for alternatives to avoid the newly imposed fees, DapDap sends out an open invitation for everyone to come experience the exact same powerful functionalities of Uniswap v3 without additional fees via our own gateway.

In essence, DFaaS stands as a testament to DapDap’s mission to make Web3 more accessible, engaging, and secure for all. By integrating an extensive list of carefully curated FEs for Scroll, our universal gateway remove the barriers for users to explore and navigate the Scroll Ecosystem.

TL;DR - Here is why DapDap’s DFaaS stands out:

  • Zero Additional Fees: Unlike some platforms that have introduced interface fees, DapDap maintains a zero-fee policy on its front-ends, including for popular protocols like Uniswap.

  • Enhanced Security and Censorship Resistance: With the entire front-end source code on-chain, DapDap enhances security against DDoS attacks and ensures censorship resistance, keeping the platform accessible at all times.

  • User-Friendly Design: DapDap's interface is designed with the user in mind, focusing on ease of use, efficiency, gamification, and a clean aesthetic that makes navigating complex DeFi products straightforward.
